Science World Online Science Adventures was launched last year as part of a provincial Science World initiative in response to pandemic restrictions and the shift from in-person to virtual learning in schools across BC. After an immensely successful first year with positive teacher and student feedback, we are currently seeking funding to continue providing Online Science Adventures.
Online Science Adventures – Prince George will provide schools in District #57 with ten remote-learning workshops that focus on science, technology, engineering, arts/design and math (STEAM) learning opportunities for K-12 students. We are working directly with District administrators and teachers to curate program bundles that will best meet their needs, offering them at no-cost for ten classrooms in the Prince George School District. Program bundle activities include tinkering, coding and computational thinking workshops that will promote creative thinking and teach new technology skills, and live-streamed Science World science shows, complete with explosive experiments and astonishing demonstrations.
All participating Prince George classrooms and schools will receive pre- and post-session activities and resources for continued support from Science World’s team of dedicated educators. Some of the activities may include a "classroom kit" of materials or equipment delivered to the school prior to the workshop or presentation.
Because of the work of a few, many Prince George charities have benefited by the creation of the Prince George Community Foundation. More than 25 years ago the Foundation was just a dream. Today it has granted back over $4.89 million and we're just getting started. We are proud to release this video in honor of those who came before us and worked so tirelessly to create a Foundation that will benefit all Prince George residents. Please enjoy.
