Last year we introduced the Connect: Switch program. Connect is the new Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern BC's program that bring kids together to learn how to snowboard in a safe and supportive environment. Every group of kids were paired with a team of caring and supportive mentors and received 6 weeks of instruction on the hill, use of equipment and winter gear, a season pass to the Hart Ski Hill and transportation to the hill.
Our agency is hoping to expand this program to serve children and youth aged 8 - 12 and teach them how to ski. Our agency is looking to purchase skis, boots, bindings and winter gear for kids in the program. At the completion of the program all the supplies will be put into storage to be used for future years. This should help serve kids for many years to come.
Because of the work of a few, many Prince George charities have benefited by the creation of the Prince George Community Foundation. More than 25 years ago the Foundation was just a dream. Today it has granted back over $4.89 million and we're just getting started.
