When patients with serious medical conditions travel to faraway cities to access medical care, they frequently need a place to stay when they get there. The Accommodation Program provides patients with accommodation in destination cities where patients are accessing medical care. The Accommodation Program is open to patients flying with us. It is often needed when the appointment timing precludes flying to the appointment, and it is especially needed when treatment take place across multiple days.
The program is also open to patients who prefer to drive long distances, if they have access to a car and can drive, to avoid exposure to COVID-19.
Donated funds are used for accommodations; your grant will be used to provide accommodations for Prince George patients travelling for medical care. In many cases Hope Air has secured preferential rates through partnerships with hotel chains to make donated dollars go further.
A portion of your donation will also support the essential work of our Patient Care Team. The team completes patient intakes, verifies appointments and incomes, and books travel for patients. If appointments change or a patient needs to stay longer than expected for medical reasons, we adjust travel as needed to ensure patients are always supported and can focus on what really matters: their health.
Because of the work of a few, many Prince George charities have benefited by the creation of the Prince George Community Foundation. More than 25 years ago the Foundation was just a dream. Today it has granted back over $4.89 million and we're just getting started.
