The Alano Club provides affordable meals from 8:30am to 7:30pm daily, 365 days a year serving Seniors from the Alward Place living complex, Indigenous People, Handicap individuals and anyone looking for an affordable meal. The Alano Society has been serving the Prince George community for more than fifty years.
Historically, it provided support for white men with addictions however, today the Alano Society strives to be more inclusive. Annually, over 2000 people frequent the Alano Club, including men and women of all ages, people from all socioeconomic backgrounds, employed and unemployed, people who are able bodied and those who are disabled. The Alano Society currently receives a Grant through BC Gaming to pay for Kitchen staff and food supplies to operate our meal service. This Grant money is depleted by August of every year. The Alano Society must cover the additional costs through our operating account until November when the next Grant application monies are received. The Alano Society is looking for funding to maintain the meal services we currently provide and offset some of shortfall for groceries costs.
Because of the work of a few, many Prince George charities have benefited by the creation of the Prince George Community Foundation. More than 25 years ago the Foundation was just a dream. Today it has granted back over $4.89 million and we're just getting started. We are proud to release this video in honor of those who came before us and worked so tirelessly to create a Foundation that will benefit all Prince George residents. Please enjoy.
